چکیده

In this paper, we propose a framework for communication and cooperation among heterogeneous real-world agents based on shared ontologies. Ontologies give a background of knowledge to share among agents, that is, systems of concepts are defined which are used to communicate to each other. We present three different ontolagies, namely, ontologies for object, space, and action. Based on these ontologies, we then show mediation mechanism to generate action sequences for agents from given tasks. Our framework is appropriate for cooperation among heterogeneous real-world agents because of (1) adaptiveness for environments and agents, (2) implicit representation of cooperation, and (3) integration of information and real-world agents. We realized and verified our mediation mechanism by applying task planning for mobile robots and computer-controlled instruments.

A Knowledge-Level Approach for Building Human-Machine Cooperative Environment

In this paper, we propose the knowledgeable environment as a framework for integrated systems for human-machine co-existing space. In the knowledgeable environment, integration is achieved as knowledgelevel communication and cooperation. We abstract all machines as information agents whose roles and communication are understandable for people. Ontology is here used as explicit representation of...

An Integrated Approach for Measuring Performance of Network structure: Case study on power plants

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) and balanced scorecard (BSC) are two well-known approaches for measuring performance of decision making units (DMUs). BSC is especially applied with quality measures, whereas, when the quantity measures are used to evaluate, DEA is more appropriate. In the real-world, DMUs usually have complex structures such as network structures. One of the well-known network s...

An Ontology-Based Collaborative Reasoning Strategy for Multidisciplinary Design in the Semantic Grid

Aiming at representing and reasoning about multidisciplinary design knowledge explicitly and exchanging it in different design environments, this paper proposes an ontology-based collaborative reasoning strategy for multidisciplinary design in the Semantic Grid. An ontology-based modeling framework is used as the basis, which adopts Web Ontology Language (OWL) to build a domain-specific multidi...

Ontology Mapping Negotiation Based on Categorization of Semantic Bridges

Ontology mapping negotiation aims to achieve consensus among real-world entities about the process of transforming information between different ontologies. This paper describes a novel ontology mapping negotiation approach, based on the categorization of semantic bridges according to their confidence and relevance to the interoperability. The semantic bridges are then proposed between two agen...
